AMC offers movie-goers another opportunity to see the biggest recent blockbusters on the big screen and support medical charities

Kansas City, Mo. (June 17, 2013) – AMC Theatres® is proud to announce the launch the AMC Summer Nights program, which will offer some of the past year’s biggest movies for just $3, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Will Rogers Institute, the Autism Society of America and Autism Speaks.

Starting June 24 and throughout this eight-week program, AMC guests can see the following blockbusters for $3 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 10 p.m., at more than 200 AMC locations nationwide:

"AMC Summer Nights combines three things movie-goers love: big movies on the big screen, community support, and exceptional value," said Elizabeth Frank, executive vice president and chief content and programming officer, AMC. "We have eight weeks of blockbusters lined up for our guests, so they can afford and enjoy extra movie-going with their friends. Together, we anticipate raising significant funds for the Will Rogers Institute and our autism organization partners."

The Will Rogers Institute is a national organization committed to reducing disability and deaths causes by pulmonary illness through the funding of advanced medical research. The money AMC raises will fund cystic fibrosis research underway at Kansas City, Mo.-based Children’s Mercy Hospital, in addition to other hospital grants.

AMC operates a monthly film series, AMC Sensory Friendly Films, in partnership with the Autism Society, and also administers AMC FOCUS, a program which provides individuals affected by disabilities with access to opportunities for competitive employment.

The menu references several scenes from the movie with the desert for instance, ‘Piano on the Beach’, made out of black and white meringue and breadcrumbs to reference the closing scene of the film.

Today, 22nd of May, the Cannes Movie Stars lounge has had the pleasure to host two different press activities. The first one was with two big movie stars: the director James Toback and the actor Alec Baldwin, who attended at the festival with "Seduced and Abbandoned", showing the hide side of the sparkling world of the most known tapis rouge in the world.

It is a direct reportage of the efforts to get fund, having an idea for a movie, and the different aspects of the film Industries that changes every minute.

Among the interviews in the documentary, Scorsese, Coppola, Bertolucci, Ryan Gosling, James Caan, Jessica Chastain and Roman Polanski.

At the same time, the lounge staff welcomed “Revolution”, directed by the young, award-winning Rob Stewart.

It is a true-life documentary, showing the director himself adventure over four years and 15 countries, between climate changes, environmental degradation, species loss, ocean acidification, pollution, and food/water. A film about changing the world, and fighting to preserve the world where to live in.

Action star, comedian and martial arts master Jackie Chan will be the special guest at “An Academy Salute to Jackie Chan,” featuring a screening of “Police Story III – Supercop.” Hosted by Entertainment Weekly’s Geoff Boucher, Chan will participate in an onstage conversation before the screening of the 1992 action movie, which co-stars Michelle Yeoh, on Monday, June 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. There will be special viewing hours for the Academy’s latest exhibition, “KICK ASS! Kung Fu Posters from the Stephen Chin Collection,” in the Grand Lobby Gallery immediately following the screening.

On Monday, May 20th the Cannes Movie Stars lounge had the honour of hosting the cast of "Blood Ties". The out of competition film is directed by the top french actor and director Guillaume Canet as well as five actors of its outstanding cast, including the eclectic Clive Owen, the elegant Marion Cotillard, the beautiful Zoe Saldana, Billy Crudup, Matthias Schoenaerts and James Caan.

Blood Ties is a remake of 2008 French thriller “Les liens du sang” by Jacques Maillot in which Guillaume Canet was one of the leading actors. It is also the first movie he directed in english.

The full cast and their director took on interview after interview in the sophisticated and welcoming lounge atmosphere.

JOIN OCCUPY CANNES

Lead by Troma Entertainment, the Occupy Cannes movement will use the Cannes Film Festival to draw attention to the disparity in opportunity between the mega-media conglomerates and independent artists.

"Give art back to the people!" exhorts Lloyd Kaufman, President of Troma Entertainment.

The Occupy Cannes demonstrations and the forthcoming documentary of the same name, will explore the corporate-controlled film and media market. It will also honor the independent artists who continue their creative pursuits despite the challenges posed by an ever more consolidated industry.
